Genesis announced its hot Magma line last spring with the GV60 Magma Concept. It was later revealed that the production version of this prototype would be the first in a family that would compete with Mercedes AMG models and BMW M cars. Now, the production version of the electric crossover has been unveiled, along with the debut of the Magma GT supercar concept, hinting at the future of the sub-brand. Surprisingly, the premiere of the new models did not take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show, as expected, but at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. This was probably a way for the creators to further emphasize the sporty nature of the new family.
The Genesis GV60 Magma is 20 mm lower than the original model. The car has extended fenders with 21-inch forged wheels and 275 mm wide tires. The body now has gloss black details and a more developed aerodynamic fin. The nose has three additional grooves, which would become a signature feature for the Magma models. The debut example is painted in the bold signature color.
The GV60 Magma’s dual-motor all-wheel drive system produces 609 hp in standard mode, and with Boost mode, the output increases to 650 hp. This makes the electric crossover more powerful than the related, hotter Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N models . Acceleration from 0 to 97 km/h takes 3.4 seconds, and to 200 km/h (with launch control activated) takes 10.9 seconds. Top speed reaches 264 km/h. The compact crossover weighs a whopping 2240 kg.
Other upgrades include a recalibrated suspension, upgraded brakes and an electronically controlled differential lock. The VGS system, just like on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, simulates gear changes. When Magma mode is activated, the display shows battery and engine temperature data, as well as G-force levels. Finally, a drive mode and improved battery cooling are available for use on the track.
The Magma GT supercar concept was unveiled alongside the Genesis GV60 Magma crossover. The premiere was dedicated to the brand’s 10th anniversary: according to the company, the show car is more than just a design study. At the front, the car has a prominent splitter, a large air intake, slightly redesigned signature headlights and a ventilated hood. From the side, butterfly doors with recessed handles, vents in the front fenders and wide rear fenders stand out. Lightweight wheels and powerful brakes are also mentioned. At the rear, the illuminated brand name, a large diffuser and a central exhaust system are mentioned.
The manufacturer did not share technical details about the new model, but confirmed the hypothesis of a mid-engine model. It is still a concept, although Genesis hinted at the possible debut of a production version.

The production model of the Genesis GV60 Magma crossover will initially launch in South Korea and reach Europe and North America next year.
